What is Origin Sessions?

A STAGE FOR SONGS THAT DESERVE TO BE HEARD.

Origin Sessions is a new live music event celebrating original songs and the people who write them.

The Autumn Session brings together songwriters and musicians to perform their own material live in the intimate setting of Eckington Church, with the chance to hear a little about the songs, their influences and where they came from.

Three live sets will make up the evening, with collaborations along the way and a shared finale bringing the artists together.

The Autumn Session line-up

Paul Hedges &
The Blue Motel

Singer-songwriter · The Blue Motel

Singer-songwriter Paul Hedges brings his original songs to The Autumn Session with his band, The Blue Motel following a sell-out concert at Number 8.

Paul has been writing and performing for many years, from London folk clubs to venues and festivals around Worcestershire. Together with guitarist Alan Davies and multi-instrumentalist Rupert Flindt, The Blue Motel perform Paul's original material with an Americana and country influence. Their songs have also received extensive airplay through BBC Introducing.

For Origin Sessions, Paul will be performing a selection of his songs with The Blue Motel, bringing the full band interpretation of his writing to the evening.

Paul Haidon

Singer-songwriter

Paul Haidon has been writing and performing original music for more than 30 years, both as a solo artist and with bands including The Blue Meanies and, more recently, Tiny Room Giants.

Influenced by artists including John Martyn, Ray LaMontagne, Van Morrison and James Taylor, Paul's songs are rooted in events and experiences from his own life — a musical diary stretching across more than three decades.

He first cut his teeth playing studio sessions in London and co-writing with signed bands before developing his own material and performing independently.

For The Autumn Session, Paul will be joined by his sister, whose voice has featured alongside his own for many years, adding another dimension to a selection of songs drawn from across his catalogue.

Mike Nuttall

Singer-songwriter

Mike Nuttall has been a familiar face on the local music scene for many years, performing with covers bands including The Verbs, village favourites The Eckington Smoothies and, more recently, M5.

His own songs draw on the rootsier side of music, with influences from Americana, blues, country and folk. Over the years, Mike has performed his original material at local venues, pubs and community events, steadily building a collection of songs alongside his work with other bands.

For The Autumn Session, Mike will be bringing a selection of those songs to the Origin Sessions stage.
